As 2015 comes to a close I look back on all of the monthly features I have written about this year. Each month I have featured one topic/theme or challenge to write about at least once a week for that month. Here is the monthly feature breakdowns:
I began this year with a feature that would set my mind right for the year. I tried my hand at meditating, the act of quieting the mind. It was a big challenge for me as my mind is always racing especially the second my head hits the pillow each night. With the help of a meditation app I was able to work on meditating before bed. I have fallen off the bandwagon a bit but I try to meditate each time I am in shavasana during yoga.
February Date Night Ideas
With Valentine’s Day I thought it would be a great idea to come up with some fun date night ideas to try during the month of February. From morning beach walks with our dog Gus to cooking a homemade meal for dinner each date night created new memories for Judd and I to remember.
March-31 Day Blogging Challenge
Probably one of my favorite features this year! I came across a 31 Day Blogging Challenge and decided to dedicate all of my posts for the month of March to it. I successfully achieved it and even learned a little more about what you guys want to read the most on my blog. I really want to do another monthly challenge sometime next year.
April-Spring Cleaning & Organization
Spring cleaning and a messy house motivated my April feature. Throwing out things I didn’t need, de-cluttering my life and organizing the things around me really helped get my butt in shape for the summer. It’s nice to have a fresh start but it’s also nice to throw out things you don’t need or are not essential.
When the temperatures warmed up in Florida I thought it would be nice to share some summertime posts. I started with a Floridian’s Guide to Surviving the Summer as I am a Florida native of 26 years. I shared my summer fashion essentials and what my Memorial Day weekend was like. May was a fun month!
June-Home Sweet Town Home
I began June with a week-long blog hiatus so we could move into a new town home but once I was back I dedicated my monthly feature to making our new house a home. I shared decoration inspiration with you guys as well as my new kitchen space-which I still love!
July-Daily Yoga Challenge
Another one of my favorite monthly features! I really enjoyed trying out 31 days of yoga poses and documenting them for you guys. It taught me new poses as well as built up a library full of poses I could do each and every day. I am looking into doing another version of this next year!
August-5 in Jaxx
In August I celebrated my 5 year anniversary of moving to Jacksonville. In this feature I shared my 5 favorite places to eat, 5 favorite things to do, the 5 things I have accomplished since moving and 5 tips to moving to a new city.
September-Why I Love Fall
My favorite time of year and my favorite season. I shared my love for all things fall including football. (Participating in the #Thursdayhuddleparty) I shared my fall fashion essentials, fall recipes and a DIY Fall wreath.
October-First Year of Marriage
October marked my first year anniversary with my husband and a blog hiatus for our week getaway to visit family. I recapped our wedding day in pictures and shared what I have learned in the last year of wedded bliss. I didn’t have as many posts regarding this topic but it was still something to be celebrated!
November-Thanksgiving Prep & Giving Thanks
This month’s feature was a double feature! I posted about the things I am thankful for as well as sharing my Thanksgiving prep. Hosting my first Thanksgiving with my husband and our families was a process so I thought it would be fun to share the steps along the way.
December- Random Acts of Kindness
Ended our year of blogging topics with Random Acts of Kindness just in time for the holidays! I made a small and manageable list of acts to accomplish through the month of December. This challenge is still ongoing but I only have a few more things to finish up!
I’ve learned a lot in the last year of blogging but one thing I can say from these monthly features is my subject matter and blog topics are ALL OVER THE PLACE! Starting off a new blog it’s hard to figure out exactly what my niche is. From these monthly features I’ve realized that the topics I love most involved personal stories, yoga and challenges that incorporate the two. Next year is going to be a whole new batch of monthly features. Here’s to 2016!
