2017 is going to be a year of transition and change. As much as I fear change it always works out for the best when it happens. When I sat down and sorted out what my personal goals would be I asked myself, “What do I desire to do?” All of these goals are from the heart. These are the things I really want to achieve in 2017.
Travel More- My first goal of 2017 is to travel more. Whether that’s within my new home state of South Carolina and the states around me or to a few of the places on our travel bucket list, 2017 is the year for traveling! We’ve been hoping to take a trip to Toronto, Canada in the fall life permitting of course! I would also like to get up to Pennsylvania to visit Judd’s aunt, uncle, cousins and his brother. We haven’t been up there since 2011 so we are long overdue! Judd also found affordable flights to NYC so that may also be in the cards for travel this year.
Read a book each month- This goal was something I didn’t formally set last year but tried to do. I missed the mark by 2 books but still felt pretty proud of my progress. This year I want to do the same thing and hopefully reach the 12 book goal or more if I find the time! I’ve already started my book for this month so expect that book review here in the next few weeks!
Serve my new community, volunteer– Something that I have been thinking about for a while now is volunteering. I’m going to do a little research about volunteering here in Myrtle Beach and see what causes I can help with. I think it would be a great way for me to get involved in my new community, one in which I am just getting to know.
Say “yes” more- I’ve always been hesitant to jump at new opportunities because of fear. This year I want to drop that silly notion and be more of a “yes” girl. Taking small steps into creating a more fulfilling life for myself and getting to experience new things. This also goes hand in hand with letting go of fear. One reason I hesitate to say yes is fear of the unknown or fear in general. It’s time I drop the fear card and gain some confidence!
Continue to be open-minded- This is a goal I set for myself privately last year when life got unpredictable. I would tell myself to be open-minded to the things life threw my way and adjust accordingly. This mantra helped me get through so much and it continues to ring true to me this year.
Get to know Myrtle Beach- My goal for this year is to get to know my new town as best as I can! When I first moved to Jacksonville, I spent a lot of time driving around, trying new restaurants and getting to know the area in any way possible. I plan to do the same here, too.
