This past weekend I celebrated my 28th birthday. As much as I was dreading this birthday, the weekend was enough to make up for my denial! My late twenties are proving to be the best years of my life so far which makes me excited for what this year has to offer. Here is how I rang in my 28th year!
Friday after work we decided to check out the Wahlburgers location here in Myrtle Beach. We have wanted to check out Wahlburgers even when we lived in Florida. It’s nice having one in our backyard! The location is in Broadway at the Beach. This is an area close to the beach-in case you didn’t know-that is a hot area for tourists. There are multiple places to eat, shop and watch entertainment. Since we are out of season, we thought now would be a great time to try Wahlburgers out.
The location was pretty busy especially on a Friday night. We waited about 30 minutes but it was worth it! The restaurant space is large with high ceilings. There are these lights on the ceiling that have each of the things Donnie, Mark and Paul have done over the years. I couldn’t help but grab a quick snap!
We both had a hard time deciding on which burger to order. The menu times are pretty epic! I went for the Our Burger which is a 1/3lb burger topped with lettuce, tomato, pickles, onion, cheese and Paul’s signature wahl sauce. I typically don’t eat pickles on my sandwiches but this burger was an exception. Their pickles are tangy and delicious!
Judd ordered the Thanksgiving Day Sandwich. This one is Mark’s favorite sandwich so we knew it would be good! It’s a turkey burger topped with stuffing, mayo, orange-cranberry sauce and roasted butternut squash. We decided to split our burgers in half and share each one with each other so we could try both.
The burger verdict? Both were delicious and unique in flavor but my favorite was the Our Burger. Those pickles really made it for me! For our sides, we ordered both the sweet potato tots and the french fries. Both were perfect for our meals!
Judd planned to take me out to dinner and a movie for my actual birthday night. He surprised me with the restaurant location and he knocked it out of the park! We went to Tupelo Honey Cafe for a southern dinner.
We treated ourselves with Strawberry Mimosas from the bar which were on special for $3 each! Our server brought over homemade biscuits with jam and honey. It was the perfect item to hold us over until our meals arrived.
For an entrée, I ordered the Fried Green Tomato BLT with a side of Baked Mac & Cheese. The BLT was topped with warm pimento cheese which was delicious.
Judd ordered the Mountain Pulled Pork Sandwich. He also opted for the Baked Mac & Cheese a side. As our server said, Mac & Cheese is a vegetable in the south. Amen to that!
After our dinner we went to the movie theater and saw Hidden Figures. I will be reviewing the movie along with the book Friday on the blog!
Overall, my 28th birthday was a lot of fun! I shared my day with my wonderful husband, talked to my parents and brother on the phone and enjoyed each moment. Despite getting older I felt good about this birthday.
