New year, new goals! This first week of January is a clean slate. It’s the perfect time to set out your goals for the year. Coming up with achievable goals can be difficult. You can intend to set goals to finish by the end of the year but often times life gets in the way. (Or you simply forget them!)
Coming up with goals can be challenging. When I set out to create my goals for this year I found myself biting off more than I could chew. I simply had too many goals! So to show you guys how I’m setting SMART goals this year(and how you can too) I decided to share a few tips on how you can set achievable goals for the new year.
5 Tips for Creating Your 2018 Goals
Break the Year Into Quarters
Think 4 quarters in a year. Each quarter come up with a few things you want to achieve.
Set a Deadline
By giving yourself a solid date to achieve your goals by you are holding yourself accountable to complete it by that date. Pressure is on!
Come Up With SMART Goals
Specific. Measurable. Achievable. Relatable. Timely.
Write It Down!
Write your goals out each day so you can visualize it. If you have a planner it may be best to write down your goals each week. For Christmas, I received a Passion Planner from my husband. I came across this planner about a year ago and thought it would be the perfect way to keep track of my goals. Basically it’s a planner where you can list your daily/weekly/monthly goals and keep track of your progress. At the end of each month there is a section to journal about how you did.
Understand that Roadblocks Happen
Life can throw crazy things your way. Remember that there may be roadblocks standing in your way to achieving your goal. How will you overcome those roadblocks?
Let’s make 2018 the year of slaying our goals! I am so excited to share this new approach of my goals with you guys this year. Stay tuned this week when I share my first quarter goals.
