Five girls traded in their everyday roles as girlfriends, wives and moms to become princess’ for the weekend. It was Katelyn’s bachelorette weekend at Disney and we let our princess sides show! We all headed down to Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando, FL for a weekend of celebrating one of Katelyn’s final weeks as a single girl.
En route to Orlando!
We planned on arriving at the hotel once our room was clean and ready. When we parked we noticed a fire truck and fire fighters getting out and putting their suits on. Immediately we were perplexed. Two emergency vehicles came and parked behind us and started to put their gear on as well. We were all very confused yet so amused! Someone with the hotel drove by in a golf cart and we asked him what was going on. He said it was nothing serious. Minutes later dark smoke came through one of the hotel rooms rapidly causing all of us to push back into the parking lot. Something was definitely going on! Luckily we were able to trade hotel buildings for one where our room would be ready asap. We had already been waiting almost 2 hours!
Once the fire was contained and the fire fighters were taking off their gear, Katelyn’s matron of honor decided it would be a great photo opportunity to have our bride take a picture with the firemen. Katelyn wasn’t down but we went and asked any ways! They were so friendly and nice and kindly agreed to pose for one picture with our bride-to-be! It was great! It was the perfect begging to the weekend.
Jasmine, Belle, Ariel, Minnie and Cinderella
Later that evening, we put on our bridal party shirts and princess crowns and ventured to one of the hotel restaurants for dinner, Mayan Grill. It was a nice Mexican restaurant with a cool vibe and the guacamole was amazing! After dinner we took the buses to Downtown Disney to walk around, shop and possibly go bowling. The place was packed! We meandered through each of the shops and time flew by. We walked by La Nouba’s building and there was a gold statue of a man outside. Suddenly he moved! He would pose with someone then move to freak them out. It was quite cool! We all went to get our picture by him when he started to take each of our crowns. He blew us kisses and made us each kneel down for our crowns. Everyone watching was laughing at us.
By the time we got to Splittsville, none of us really wanted to bowl. It was getting late and we were all pretty tired. We opted to visit the outside bar at Splittsville where they had heat lamps. We sat down and listened to two guys play songs acoustically. Splittsville has frozen drinks that come in cool souvenir cups. I chose the Pina Colada which was delicious! My brother even came and met us out on the bar when he got off of work to wish Katelyn a Happy bachelorette!
We returned to our hotel room around 1:15am…way way past my bedtime! We all crashed hard into sleep but knew the late night was worth all the fun! The weekend was an overall success but we seriously did NOT start the hotel fire!
