My favorite thing about football season is tailgating. I love tailgating before any football game whether it be for my favorite college football team or my River City NFL team, the Jags. I live in the city that hosts the world’s largest cocktail/tailgate party every year. How lucky?! The best part of the tailgates besides the brews…is the food. A tailgate is nothing without amazing food! I have a few preferences when it comes to tailgate food.
It has to be bite size and easy to hold. If you are walking around a tailgate, playing beer pong or corn hole you want to have food items that are bite size and easy to hold. I don’t know about you guys but I play corn hole while holding a plate of ribs-not gonna happen!
Darn Good Ham and Cheese Sliders via Tasty Kitchen. I love these! We make them at home on occasion but the last tailgate we went to was for a University of Tennessee bowl game in January. These were perfect and everyone loved them!
Slow Cooker Honey Barbecue Chicken Sandwiches via Uncommon Designs. I make these sliders in my crock pot all the time. With a topping of coleslaw it makes perfect southern food for a tailgate!
Taco Crescents via Plain Chicken. How easy do these look? Everything is better wrapped in crescent rolls! I love these little taco crescents plus they aren’t your typical burger or dog.
It has to be portable. I will be walking around to other tailgates. The easier to hold the better!
Individual Seven-Layer Dips via The Girl Who Ate Everything. Hosting a tailgate? These are perfect for guests to hold and snack on pregame style.
Walking Tacos via Picky Plate. The walking taco is becoming a favorite of mine! Have your ingredients on a table at your tailgate so guests can DIY their own walking taco.
- It has to be delicious! This one is obvious! I married a foodie so my food expectations are always high! If you are hosting a tailgate or a football party mix it up! Stray away from the norm of hot dogs and chips and broaden your food horizons.
