The saying is “Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.”
I had my something old in my great grandmother’s wedding ring. I had something new with my wedding dress. My something borrowed was my mother’s pearls. But when it came to something blue I had to find something perfect.
When it came time to find my wedding shoes, I had one designer in mind: Badgley Mischka. Their shoes were simple yet glamorous. I went on a manhunt to find the perfect pair. No store seemed to carry them and the one pair I found was too small and came in white. (How boring!) Disappointed and defeated, I opened my search to other designers but it wasn’t the same. I couldn’t shake my yearning for Badgley Mischkas.
A co-worker introduced me to 6pm.com and said they sold designer shoes at discounted prices. It was a miracle! I came across a pair of blue, peep-toe pumps with an embellishment that matched the belt on my dress. It was perfect. Finally I found my something blue!
They arrived a week before my first dress fitting and I took them for a test drive. I walked around the house in them. I would wear them while cooking and doing my hair. My goal was to break them in so they would fit perfectly for the wedding.
On October 4th, I wore my “Something blue” shoes through our first look, family pictures and the ceremony. Everyone loved them! They were the perfect pop of color. By the reception, I decided to trade them in for flats which lasted a few dances and then I went rogue by kicking my shoes off completely. My wedding shoes are very special to me as they were the shoes I married the love of my life in!
