June Book Review: Magnolia Story by Chip & Joanna Gaines
Shiplap. Demo Day. Hardwoods. If those words make your heart happy than you probably watch Fixer Upper on HGTV like I do! I adore Chip and Joanna Gaines of Fixer Upper fame so when I saw that they put out a book about their story, I knew I just had to pick it up!
First off, I love how honest and humble they are. It’s easy for people to lose sight of what matters when fame is involved but Chip and Joanna both keep what matters to them in the forefront. Family is always first! If you watch the show you know that they get their kids involved often. But I learned so much of the decision that they made during their journey led them to where they are now.
Chip and Joanna balance each other out.
You know how they say opposites attract? That couldn’t be more true with Chip and Joanna. When they met, Joanna wasn’t sure about Chip’s outgoing personality. He took a lot of risks whereas Joanna always played it safe. But as they started building a life together their differences balanced each other out. Their strengths meshed incredibly well it came time to start their businesses of Magnolia Homes.
They had their fair share of failures prior to their success.
As with all successful people, Chip and Joanna faced challenges and even failures that helped pave their way to success. They took a lot of chances but always kept their faith at the forefront in any situation. Whether it was the success of Joanna’s shop or the launching of Fixer Upper, they never lost sight of the powers that be.
Despite fame and fortune, they remain humble.
Chip and Joanna may have found fame and fortune through their show but they continue to be humble and grateful for the success they’ve had. They still keep their family a number one priority before the show. I think that is so important especially if you are in the spotlight. Fame can be grueling. It’s torn families apart. But Chip and Joanna do an amazing job keeping their priorities straight.
If you love watching Fixer Upper you will thoroughly enjoy reading The Magnolia Story.
