July Book Review: My Not So Perfect Life by Sophie Kinsella
Very rarely do I find an author that I am obsessed with. However when I discovered Sophie Kinsella in college, I fell for her writing! I’m sure you’ve either seen or read (or both) Confessions of a Shopaholic which happens to be by Sophie. When I saw that she wrote another book and all of my favorite blogs recommended it, I bought it ASAP!
My Not So Perfect Life is about a young woman named Katie dealing with the trials and tribulations of entering the workforce at a branding agency. She’s desperate to get the boss to see her work and does anything she can to do so. But Katie is barely getting by. Her urge to live and work in London has her commuting quite a way to work. (And living with not so fabulous roommates.) As Katie’s world is in a state of dismay she is suddenly fired from her job beginning a whole slew of lies and a plot to seek revenge on her former boss.
No one is perfect!
Katie envies her boss, Demeter. Demeter seems to have everything going for her. Perfect job, perfect house, perfect husband, perfect kids and the fancy Volvo in the driveway. She’s always attending industry events and is photographed in the best designer clothes. It’s no secret that Katie wants that for herself. But as she gets to know Demeter she sees the cracks. Demeter isn’t as perfect as Katie thought. Katie sees her flaws and starts to feel almost sad for her boss.
I loved every chapter in this book! Sophie does a great job keeping her readers entertained and laughing throughout this book. My only complaint was I felt the end of the book was slightly predictable. In my mind, I had a different way of playing out the ending but it was still a great book non-the-less!
