One of my favorite things to do is read. I love to get myself caught in an amazing book that I can’t put down. When I was little I would pull books off of my parent’s bookshelves and “try” to read them. It was actually just me looking at the pictures from my mom’s nursing textbooks which is pretty gross by the way! I find myself up late at night reading books I cannot seem to put down all too often. Here are a few of the my favorite books to read(You should read them to!):
Where The Sidewalk Ends: This book was a childhood favorite of mine! One of my favorite poems is out of this book and it’s all about being skinny, something of which I have been my whole life. Shel Silverstein was one of my favorite authors. I cannot wait to one day read his poems to my future kids.
Bossy Pants by Tina Fey: I loved this book! I have always had a fascination with Tina Fey and her personality. Her book motivated me to chase after my dreams and pursue my passions without anyone’s judgement to sway me otherwise
Yes, Please: I love how this book was formatted. It’s more of a scrapbook with pictures, letters even scripts from Amy’s career. Amy is such a great role model to girls everywhere and this book is Amy’s a great example of women killing it in their careers! Plus if you’re a Parks and Rec fan you will love the chapter about the series.
10% Happier by Dan Harris: My mom recommended this book to me a few months back. Dan Harris discusses his journey with drug addiction and his post-war journalism with meditation. It’s not a sappy self-help book, Harris really comes at this from a human perspective that is both real and informative. I found myself thinking more positively after reading this book and even gave mini meditation a try! (I have a lot of work left to do on that!)
Not That Kind of Girl by Lena Dunham: This kind of book takes a lot of guts to come out and write! I love that Lena wrote from the heart all of the personal stories throughout her life. I found a lot of her essays relatable being a 20-something myself. If you haven’t read book I highly recommend you do!
