In honor of this post AND the fact that it is Throwback Thursday, this is an old photo of me from my first dance recital. I started dancing when I was about 4 years old. My mom put me in classes and thought I would enjoy it. My childhood was filled with dance classes, costumes, dress rehearsals and dance recitals. I met one of my best friends through dance and we happened to be in the same first dance class.
I stopped dancing my sophomore year of college. My coursework in school started to increase and I had to make a commitment to my studies instead of dance classes. It was a hard decision to make but I knew I was doing the right thing. I had no intention of ever being a professional dancer and knew it was just a hobby I great up doing. I was able to take a modern dance class as a part of my elective classes that same year which helped me transition away from dancing every day.
I miss dance every single day especially when I hear a song on the radio or from my iPod that I want to choreograph something to. It was a big part of me and still is to this day! I hope one day I am able to let me future daughter or son do something they love.
