June Monthly Feature: Home Sweet Town Home
When we looked at our town home prior to renting it, I fell in love with the space. The wood floors, open floor plan and painted walls won me over from the moment I stepped foot inside. The best thing about moving into a new place is decorating it-really making it a home. I told Judd one of my requests for this new place is that I could decorate it like we owned it. Home is where your heart is so why not make it a place you love! I began a mad dash for decoration inspiration to get my creative juices flowing. Here are a few of my favorite ideas:
I love the idea of a mismatched gallery wall! Pictures, posters even fun quirky prints can add a lot of joy into a room. For our living room, I am planning on putting up wedding photos, our monogram and a couple of prints to mix it up. (via)
I love to incorporate patterns within my decor. This patterned rug really ties the whole room together. I recently purchased an area rug for our living space that has a similar pattern to the one pictured above. (via)
Pops of Color
Turn a monochromatic kitchen into a beautifully bright room with pops of color. My kitchen is pretty dark and mundane. I spruced it up with red sugar canisters, a red teapot, a red toaster and my personal favorite-a red Kitchenaid mixer. (via)
I love a little history when it comes to furniture. Every vintage piece has a story and proves that you don’t have to buy something new to add a little charm to a room. This vintage French chair is darling! My grandmother furnished her house with vintage French chairs like this one and I always admired her taste in vintage pieces. (via)
What inspires your decorating tastes? Are you more contemporary or vintage?
