Well, the day has finally come. We pack up and ship out for South Carolina tomorrow and it still doesn’t feel real. I have so many emotions regarding our move. I am excited for the new opportunities and a new area to explore yet I feel sad to leave family and friends behind here. Change is a good thing and I know it will be great for us! Here is my farewell to Florida!
So long small island I grew up on. 11 miles south of the Kennedy Space Center and so small that you knew everyone’s business. I will miss watching launches from my backyard and the elementary school playground. My fond memories at the high school where both my parents attended 30 years before I did will remain with me forever. (Both good and bad!)
Goodbye beachside community where I spent much of my college years. Commuting an hour 4-5 days a week just so I could attend photo school was serious dedication. But oh the memories I made there! From long afternoons in the school’s darkroom to spring break’s spent photographing bike week, the memories made it enjoyable.
Farewell Jacksonville, my home for the last 6 years. At 21 I moved up by myself to finish my Bachelor’s degree at The University of North Florida. It was the hardest transition moving away from family and not having anyone I knew but that would change. I made amazing friends, great memories and even met the love of my life. UNF offered me a great education, amazing internships and finally my degree in 2012.
Jacksonville offered opportunities. My dream of working for an advertising agency came true in 2013 when I landed a job in media. Last week I said goodbye to the job and my co-friends after almost 4 years.
Florida has been my home my entire life…almost 28 years. I’ve made so many memories here. From spontaneous trips to Disney to see my brother perform to getting married under the large oak trees in North Florida. I’ll shed a few tears, dust myself off and gear up for our new adventure. South Carolina here we come!
**We will be taking a short hiatus during the move through next Wednesday. Look forward to sharing our moving recap with you guys once we are settled in!**
