Most of you know my deep affection for my yoga practice. Stemming from my former dance days, yoga has been a great way for me to get back into shape. Besides going to a studio for class I try to practice yoga on my own time at-home. It helps to have great gear for your yoga practice so today I am sharing my favorite yoga essentials.
Manduka Pro Yoga Mat- Since college I had been practicing on a cheap yoga mat from Walmart. It was thin and never supported my bony knees. But it was a mat none the less! I began looking into new mats last fall when Judd asked me what I wanted for Christmas. I read review after review and found that every mat on the market has some kind of “negative” review. I gave 3 mats I was interested in and he gifted me with a Manduka Pro mat. The thickness is 4mm which is super supportive. This mat is perfect for me so much that I’ve considered getting another one.
Yogitoes Mat Towel- My husband just gifted me with one and I absolutely love it! This one has a grip side that keeps the towel from sliding on your mat especially when in hot yoga class. These towels come in different colors and patterns too.
Yoga Blocks & Straps- When I first began practicing yoga I avoided the props. It wasn’t until I met a teacher who encourage props and straps during our practice that my eyes opened to the benefits of using them. Even if I don’t think I will need it I like to keep a block and a strap by my mat during my practice. At home, I have to improvise a bit! I have a stretchy band I use and occasionally a book as a block. Sometimes you just have to get creative!
Manduka Lavender Mat Spray-Can you tell I am a Manduka fan?! I just got this mat spray a few months ago and I love the way it makes my mat smell. Practice can get sweaty leaving your mat pretty gross afterwards. I use this mat spray after every practice and deep clean my mat once every few weeks.
Doterra Lavender Essential Oil- Before each at-home yoga practice I put a little lavender essential oil on my wrists. The scent helps me feel relaxed and calm during my practice. Sometimes I even diffuse it while I practice.
