I am a pretty healthy person but there is always room for improvement. I decided to make a special set of health and fitness goals for this year. This isn’t some crazy work out plan(ewww!) or a diet(what’s that?) but rather a way to feel good inside and out. My end goal for health and fitness: Feeling well, stronger and more confident.
Develop Home Yoga Practice: One of my goals for this year is to grow my yoga practice with means developing a home practice. This could be taking what I learn in studio classes and practicing them at home on my own time or finding a quick YouTube video of a 10,20 or 30 minute practice to follow along to. One day I hope to get my teaching certification for yoga and the way to start is practicing on my own outside of class. I love taking class from my teacher but bringing my practice home will help move my progress along.
- Set aside 10, 20 or 30 minutes each night to go through a flow sequence.
- Write down home practice sequences focusing on different areas each day.
- If it’s a night were I don’t have much time at least make a point to stretch anything that is tight.
Eat Better Breakfast: Like most people I usually don’t eat an adequate breakfast in the morning. Usually I am rushing out the door to sit in traffic so I quickly grab the most portable item I can eat while driving which is usually a granola bar. I want to start eating a meal for breakfast. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day which means skipping or skimping out on it can cause for an unbalanced day. I know I am not the only one guilty of that! How do I plan on doing this?
- Getting up an hour before work to prep breakfast.
- Make more eggs, avocado on toast and fruit based meals.
- Write down what I have for breakfast each day.
Wash Face Daily: I am horrible at remembering to wash my face daily. By the time I get ready in the morning it’s almost time to leave for work. I need to make a better effort at washing my face more. I have a tendency to touch my face a lot. I’ll be sitting at my desk at work and I will rest my head in my hand casually. Without thinking. My goal for this year is to remember to wash my face more and touch my face less/not at all. It will be tough to remember especially on days where I feel tired. But I know I can do it!
- Get up early, wash face first thing before or after brushing my teeth in the morning.
- Washing my face at night if I missed doing it that morning.
Gain some weight: Hear me out on this. I am naturally thin. Always have been. It’s been a constant struggle to try to gain weight. This will probably be my hardest health goal of this year but I believe I can achieve it with proper eating and more yoga practice. I am hopeful that the more muscle I gain the more I will weigh. It seems strange why someone my size would complain about gaining weight but it’s been a lifelong challenge of mine. But understand that each and every person is different when it comes to their weight.
My health and fitness goals were designed for my own personal needs. Since I am someone who can not lose weight health and fitness means something different to me than say the person next to me. To me my health and fitness goals will help me feel healthier, stronger and more confident.
