In a few days we will be ringing in a new year. It’s hard to believe 2016 is coming to a close. This year has flown by far too quickly! While I am thankful for every year this year was unique. 2016 was a roller coaster ride I am more than happy to get off slightly whip-lashed but wiser nonetheless. Let me recap the highlights of my year.
January began with a wedding and a birthday. I was honored to stand beside my life-long best friend as she married the love of her life. The gorgeous ceremony took place in Mount Pleasant, SC on a plantation. The reception was the party of the century! We danced until our feet were sore. There even was a rare performance by some of the groomsmen who sang Backstreet Boys. Everyone joined in. It was epic!
A week or so later I celebrated my 27th birthday. While I dread being this close to 30 my late twenties have been the best years thus far!
In March I took in the sights at Epcot’s Flower & Garden Festival. I’ve always wanted to go and this year I finally got to attend not only once but twice! To be fair one of the times it poured on us so we had to reschedule. We rocked out to The Orchestra (former members of Electric Light Orchestra) for the Garden Rocks concert series and enjoyed the mild temperatures. Read more about that here.
I finally got my sea legs in April! How on earth did I do that?! We set sail on the Disney Dream for a family vacation. My family, Judd’s family and our family friends all packed up and shipped out to the Bahamas for a few days. It was my first cruise and the first time I had ever been out of the country. To date, it’s still one of the best vacations we have ever been on! Read more about that here.
We did 4 Disney parks in 2 days and a Grand Floridian high tea in June. A feat I would’ve only dreamed of doing and with perfect timing too pending our move out of Florida. It was an epic 2 days full of rides, food and lots of fun! We even got to see my brother perform in the Jungle Book Alive With Magic Show at Animal Kingdom prior to it’s end. Read more about that here.
For my mom’s brithday/late mother’s day celebration we went to have High Tea at the Grand Floridian Resort. My mom and grandmother got dressed up and we shared an afternoon filled with tea. It was a wonderful way to spend time with them! I always love a good afternoon tea! Read more about that here.
August was a month of spontaneity. Thanks to my spontaneous brother and our desire to get a sibling tattoo together, he persuaded me to finally do so in August. Judd took us to the shop and we both picked out Roman Numerals: I for me, the first born and Matt got a II. We didn’t tell our parents in hopes that they would be shocked. They were the complete opposite. They loved it! So much for a surprise!
We celebrated our 2nd Wedding Anniversary in October. It’s amazing how quickly time flies when you’re having fun! These 2 years have been nothing short of amazing. Though this year has thrown us a few curve balls we’ve handled everything with grace.
Judd finally took me to Tennessee in November for his birthday. Something we have planned for since we began dating was visiting Tennessee. We drove up through Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina to finally reach Kodak where we stayed. We ventured around Pigeon Forge, Oak Ridge and Oliver Springs. We spent a lot of time in Knoxville and at the University of Tennessee. We chose the perfect time of year to visit as the leaves were changing and the air was cool. Read more about our trip to Pigeon Forge, Oak Ridge and Knoxville.
December brought us change: It would be our last month in Florida! After 6 months of uncertainty, Judd got a job offer we couldn’t refuse. It was with a hospital in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and they wanted him to start in January. We are both natives to Florida so this move was the biggest change in our entire lives. But it was very welcome after the last few months of uncertainty. With that, I still cannot believe we move in ten days!
