One of my personal resolutions to myself this year was to prioritize my health. While I’ve always considered myself to be a healthy person there are a few things I could improve upon. It’s easy to say you want to be healthy but it’s something else to make the choices to do so. Here are a few ways I am prioritizing my health in 2018:
Scheduling Doctors Appointments
Each year I always stick to seeing my lady doctor but I always brush off primary care. Blame it on my fear of doctors/hospitals in general but this had to stop. So a few weeks ago I scheduled a primary care appointment. While I don’t enjoy going to the doctors it’s so important to stay on top of your health with routine check-ups and blood work.
Stick to a Yoga Schedule
Exercise can do so much for your body. I’m guilty of falling out of my yoga practice so this year I set a goal to do yoga at least 3 times a week. Whether that is at the studio or at home on my own-a consistent practice will help me stay stress free all while providing my muscles with stretching.
Be Conscious of What I Eat
Being petite may appear to be healthy but let me tell you, I have been known to sock away a bag of potato chips in one sitting if I’m up to it! This year I am trying to be more conscious of what I eat. After all if you put good things into your body, you’ll get good out of your body. I find that I have more energy when I eat healthy and avoid things like dairy, excess sugar and alcohol. While it can be hard to avoid things that taste so good you just have to be aware that there are yummy things to eat instead of junk food.
Avoid Screens Before Bed
We live in a digital world. Constantly staring down at our phone screens, computer screens and tvs. This year I am trying to do more reading instead of screen time leading up to bed. The blue light from those screens distracts our mind and can make it hard to fall asleep at night. I find that if I read a little before bed, my mind is at ease and is ready for sleep.
