We kick-started this year by introducing my goals for this year in three areas of life: personal goals, blogging goals and health/fitness goals. It’s been a couple of weeks since the new year and progress on each of these goals is moving along. Here’s how I’ve been doing so far:
Waking up early-Well I am slacking a bit on this goal as I am not a morning person but when I do get up early I try to stay productive. My motivation to keep up with this goal next month is to start doing morning sun salutations prior to getting ready for work/to start my day.
Setting daily affirmations-This has helped improve my morning mood greatly! If I have a rough day I set an affirmation to help lift myself out of the funk. I try to write them down each day but even though I don’t I try to set an affirmation every single morning before I roll out of bed.
Avoid procrastination, get my passport-Well you will be happy to know that I got my passport picture this weekend and have an appointment to get my application this week!
Bring lunches to work, eat out less-This has been going really well! I try to make dinners each night that I can bring the next day for work. Next month I want to try meal planning my lunches each week. The only problem I have with it is I tend to get bored with my food easily. I’ve gotta mix it up, keep it exciting!
Journal more-I’ve been making a point to bring my journal out each day and write down how I feel, what’s on my mind or a fun memory from that day. I don’t journal every single day but I am pretty close! I may set up some prompts for myself in the future when I don’t have anything to write about.
Switch from WordPress.com to WordPress.org-I am still in the researching phase of this decision and am still not sure if I want to take on a .org site. I’ve read up on it and the impression that I get is .org lets you have your hands in designing more but it also requires knowing some code, which I don’t know at all. For the time being, I am going to keep researching and when I feel comfortable move through with the decision.
New blog design-If you are a regular reader, you may have noticed I changed blog themes earlier this month to something cleaner. If I stay with WordPress.com I will be adjusting this design and personalizing it a bit more.
More networking-This is always going to be a work in progress! I have started utilizing Twitter a bit more through hastags and blogging twitter accounts. I try to read up on my favorite blogs each day and leave comments on posts I relate to.
Quality over Quantity-This is a big one for me in order to improve my writing and blogging skills. If I don’t feel a post is ready, I don’t publish it. I want to start writing my posts months in advance that way I have more time to edit and rework each. I currently pace a month ahead of the blog but I would love to be a few months ahead or at least develop content ahead of time.
Health and Fitness Goals
Develop at home yoga practice-This one is still a challenge for me as I usually get home late from work then have to cook, shower, deal with Gus and by the time I am done, I am ready for bed. My goal for next month is to start each day with sun salutations and stretch before bed. I am also increasing my yoga classes each week in order to further my progress.
Eat a better breakfast-Today I woke up and made myself a bowl of cereal…with soy milk of course! Cereal is always really filling and should hold me over until lunch time or at least a mid-morning snack!
Wash face daily-This is another goal I struggle to keep. I usually wash my face after a shower but I need to do it first thing in the morning as well. But it’s been so cold lately I’ve been avoiding it. (Bad Shannon!)
So far this year’s goals have been going well! There is a lot to achieve but I have no doubt in my mind that I can achieve them! How are you doing on your 2016 goals? Share with us!
