This week closes out the first monthly feature of the year. It felt really good to start the year out by focusing on my health and wellness. Mindfulness and meditation is something I have wanted to do for a while now and being able to begin that journey means so much to me! I enjoyed this monthly feature and will continue to feature mindful posts on my blog long after this month ends. I have a few long-term goals with this journey and am excited to see those goals through!
My final week: It’s so easy to get lazy and forget to meditate but I made an effort to do so even if I was tired. In my final week, I focused on my feelings and checking in to myself prior to meditating. Being able to pinpoint what emotions I needed to alter or focus on gave me goals in my meditation practice. The other night I was having a hard time getting my mind to stop racing around before bed. I set up my Breathe app, laid on my back and closed my eyes. I went through an 8 minute meditation that focused on breathing and getting in-tune with every part of my body. (Top of my head to the tips of my toes.) I was so relaxed I started to doze off mid meditation! That is exactly what I needed.
I recently came across The Mindfulness Project online via Twitter. I took the Mindfulness Test to see where I was on the scale. I got Moderately mindful which isn’t too bad! This is motivation for me to keep perusing mindfulness and meditation.
My goals with mindfulness and mediation:
- Meditate every night before bed even if it’s for 5 minutes. Every little step counts.
- Do a little more research on meditation and mindfulness. I want to read Get Some Headspace by Andy Puddicombe. That is my next goal for reading.
- Keep the positivity going. Always look for the bright side of any situation.
