Happy Christmas Eve! I cannot believe Christmas is tomorrow. What happened to this month?! As I sit here and think about what this holiday has become to me it makes me feel nostalgic to Christmas memories from the past. This holiday has become just another day: my husband usually works Christmas or Christmas Eve which leaves me at home with the dog. I always keep myself busy though. Last year I went and saw a movie, by myself and it was totally awesome!
What memories stand out in my mind? What memories mean the most to me? Well I am going to share them with you guys today.
The year I went to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party with my parents. I was about 3. My mom was pregnant with my brother at the time. I believe it was the first time I had ever been to Disney World. I have a vivid memory of sitting in my stroller watching the snow fall as we walked down Main Street. I thought it was the coolest thing ever. Years later I would go back to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party as an adult and still enjoy like I did as a child.
The year I was in the Nutcracker Ballet and received my first Nutcracker doll for Christmas. I was obsessed with the ballet: the music, the costumes and the nutcracker. I was a circus kid in the performance-we ran out of our Mother’s dress to dance around the stage wildly. The performance was a great experience. For Christmas that year my grandmother gifted me with the music from The Nutcracker as well as my very own Nutcracker doll. When I went to bed on Christmas Eve, my Nutcracker doll came with me. I still have my Nutcracker doll which is sitting on my bar top in the kitchen. He makes for the perfect piece of Christmas decor!
The year we got a puppy for Christmas. I was 17 and working at the local grocery store. My parents decided that the day before Christmas Eve we would all drive across the state to pick out a golden retriever puppy for Christmas. I was scheduled to work that day with it being so close to the holiday. My parents brought home a rather fluffy puppy which we named Connor. Connor whined when we put him in the backyard but quickly adapted to his new home. He’s 9 now and still one of the best Christmas presents I have ever gotten!
