My husband and I recently traveled to Hilton Head Island, SC for our honeymoon. Being massive foodies, this was a great place to go for amazing food! Hilton Head offers an array of southern style favorites as well as local seafood specialties. Here is a rundown of our experience.
Market Place Cafe
Located in Coligny by the beach in a shipping plaza, Market Place Cafe offers soups, salads and wraps. I ordered the Turkey Club Wrap which came on a pita. It was delicious! The pita was probably my favorite part. We sat outside on the patio since the weather was gorgeous! After dinner, we walked around to the little shops and enjoyed the area.
The Salty Dog
Located in Sea Pines, this restaurant is a tourist favorite. Salty Dog is known for their T-shirts with their mascot Jake, a lab in a yellow hat. They offer multiple seafood and drink selections. I had the crab cake sandwich with potatoes au gratin and a strawberry daiquiri both of which I thoroughly enjoyed! After dinner, we stopped at The Salty Dog Shop and picked up souvenir shirts and bandana’s for the dogs.
We were looking for a quick place to stop and grab a lunch when we came across Relish. The restaurant was small but menu was full of epic opportunities! I opted for the Grilled Turkey Sandwich with Cranberry relish and a side of Butternut Squash soup. The bread was toasted to perfection. But the soup was hands down my favorite part! It was perfectly flavored and ideal for a cool day in South Carolina. Our service was quick and the food was fresh. I highly recommend this spot!
Stopped here for breakfast on our last day in town. A lot of the locals come here and know all of the servers well. It felt like a family place. Our server was incredibly enthusiastic and persuaded Judd to order their famous Crème brûlée French Toast which was featured in Food Network Magazine. I ordered the Pecan Pancakes which were warm and delicious.
Overall, our foodie experience through Hilton Head Island was a blast but I wish we had more time to experience other places we had heard about. We plan on making our way back to the island to continue our foodie adventure of South Carolina!
