Last Saturday night we ventured out after dinner to pick out a pumpkin for the front of the house. We headed to a local church to find the perfect pumpkin! This pumpkin patch was HUGE! When you arrived to the patch, they had small areas set up with different types of gourds. I love the way the gourds colors really reflect the season of fall. With their warm tones and unique shapes they make for perfect fall decor around the house. They even had a small section with mini pumpkins perfect for families with small kids. It reminded me of my grocery store days when I would see many families bring their kids to pick out their very own mini pumpkin. We even had an area where the kids could paint their pumpkin on the weekends leading up to Halloween.
We wandered around the pumpkin patch scanning the rows and rows of pumpkins. There were so many pumpkins to choose from which made for a tough decision. Judd picked up a few and compared sizes. He would set two together and see which shape he felt best for our carving. We found a few we like and picked up one that was a nice size and shape. As we were walking to check out with it we discovered another pumpkin that became “the one.” We switched out the pumpkins and settled for the one just as we were leaving. Last night we carved a certain dog breed into our pumpkin. Can you guess what breed?! (I’ll give you a hint: Gus is this breed!) Stay tuned tomorrow for a post on how we carved our pumpkin!
