This weekend was an EPIC WIN in my book! Here is what I did this weekend…
Saturday: First Coast Heart Walk 2015
Something I love about our community is the involvement and time people invest in great causes. A few years ago, my husband’s work was participating in the First Coast Heart Walk for the American Heart Association. He would be walking 3 miles and helping raise funds to support American Heart Association projects like research. I decided to join him for the walk and we ended up having a blast! It was a great event. So many people came out to walk and participate in the vendor events. This year, Judd and I decided to walk again with his work.
It was pretty cloudy the morning of Heart Walk but the temperature was a cool 73 degrees. We got to the venue site which was packed with people around 8:20am. Judd led us to where his coworkers had set up a breakfast area for the walkers. We mixed and mingled with his coworkers then headed to the start line for the walk. We were a little late but once we got to walking the 3 miles went by so quickly! The First Coast Heart Walk route is from Everbank Field (where the Jags play) looping through downtown back to Met Park by the river. It was a beautiful walk! After our 2 mile mark it started to mist a little which felt nice with the sun beating down on us for the majority of the walk!
The great thing about living in a city is living in a city that has a pro football team! (No matter how good they are…) When I moved to Jacksonville, I started to pay more attention to NFL football. I went to a few Jags games my first which wasn’t too impressive but my second one was awesome. (We beat Peyton Manning and the Colts with 3 seconds left with a field goal.) Judd had never been to a game before so we decided to go to one this year. We invited Judd’s friend with us-both of them had never been to an NFL game before! It was a beautiful but hot day for a game! Kick-off was at 4pm and once the game started the Jags momentum was clear from the start. The game was close but our team pulled through for a win-first one for the season! I forgot how much I love watching football especially being right at the game. It’s thrilling yet nerve-wrecking at times!
Next week we are gearing up for our yearly rivalry game: Florida Gators vs. Tennessee Volunteers. It will prove to be another epic win of a weekend if my team wins! Don’t tell my husband I said that! Stay tuned for a recap of that game in weeks to come!
How was everyone’s weekend? Did you do any football watching?
