…We Bough a House!
There are plenty of milestones in one’s life that signify adulthood. Moving out, graduating college, getting that full-time job, paying bills…etc. But nothing made me feel more like an adult quite like buying our first home….which is what we just did last week!
I still cannot believe what a whirlwind this past month has been. We started house hunting back in June but seriously in July to find our first home. It’s so scary being first-time home buyers when you literally know nothing. There was a lot of Googling and calling our agent AND our parents. I’m not gonna lie there were also some tears. (On my end of course.) There was also a lot of stress with Hurricane Irma threatening to postpone our closing.
When we first moved to South Carolina we rented to figure out which area of town we liked most. We waited until our 6 month moving anniversary before getting the house hunt under way. Judd and I both felt it was time to set some roots down. While Florida will always be home we really love it here in South Carolina! Plus it was pretty affordable for us to buy something a little newer here than in Florida. Score!
We saw a lot of properties. It seemed like every time we saw a house I’d always find something I didn’t like. I was looking for perfection. You learn quickly that perfection is far-fetched! I had to get rid of that mindset in order for find our first home.
Judd found the house we bought one night and we quickly sent it to our agent. The next day we visited it. I remember walking in and already feeling like I was home. I knew at that moment it was the one. It had just come onto the market the day Judd found it so it was a fresh listing. We talked it over the rest of the day and decided to put in an offer.
A month and a few weeks later and we are proud homeowners! I cannot wait to share all of our DIY projects we have planned.
