You know the drill, each year I begin by setting my goals for the year. Typically I’ve set 3 categories each year: personal, blogging and health goals. But this year is going to be a little different. A perk of working in radio is meeting incredible clients who do amazing things. As a part of a deal, my boss brought in a life coach for the staff.
I know what you’re thinking, isn’t a life coach for someone who is struggling? I thought the same thing. In the beginning I was very skeptical. My life is pretty awesome…why would I need it? Truth be told life coaches can be beneficial to anyone even if you think you’ve got it made!
As a part of our life coaching sessions we were asked to create goals for 2018. Not necessarily year goals but SMART goals that we could achieve throughout the year. Each year when I’ve made goals I set my intentions as year-end instead of giving them solid dates and short time frames.
Last year when I was setting out on creating goals for this year, I discovered that it’s easier to create smaller goals in a shorter amount of time then setting goals for the entire year. So I decided to break the year into quarters and set goals for each quarter. I still have the same categories: personal, blogging, health and wellness.
1st Quarter Goals
Personal: Eat a Solid Breakfast Daily
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. However, I have been notorious for either skipping it or just eating something small like a granola bar. My first goal of Q.1 is to get into the habit of eating breakfast daily. I began last week with peanut butter toast with bananas on top. For this week I have coconut yogurt with granola.
Blogging: Get New Headshot
I’ve been using a photo from my wedding which was a little over 3 years ago on the blog. It’s time I updated that! My hopes are to get my dad to take one when they visit in a few weeks.
Health: Make Dentist Appointment by Jan 15th
I meant to do this goal in 2017 but life got in the way and I also forgot to floss so I put it off. My goal is to call and schedule a dentist appointment by Jan. 15th. and have the appointment done by the end of March.
Wellness: Yoga 3x a week
Not going to lie…with the holidays my yoga practice went into hibernation. There’s no excuse for it! I want to start off 2018 by setting a goal to do yoga at least 3x a week. Whether that is at the studio or at home, a consistent practice will help me both physically and mentally. Here’s how I’ll do it:
- Keep track of yoga practice with calendar/planner
- Practice at home or in studio
- Do a minimum of 10 minutes of practice
