Ringing in a new year always brings about those health and fitness goals you strive to achieve but only really do the first month of the year. I did fairly well on last year’s goals in this category so I decided to give it another try this year! I am committed to staying healthy and active even when things get busy. Here are my health and fitness goals for this year.
Refine at-home yoga practice- With our recent move, I am going to rely heavily on my at home yoga practice until I find a new studio. Moving was expensive so it may mean utilizing Youtube channels for daily practice or Yoga apps.
Get to a Dermatologist- I’ve needed to go since I was in high school…back in the days of heavy sun exposure. I put it of every year but this year I am not making excuses! In order to stay healthy I have to get my skin checked.
Eat More Veggies (Recipes)- This is my goal EVERY SINGLE YEAR! I do enjoy veggies but find it oh so difficult to commit to eating them daily. I will be incorporating more veggie recipes on my blog and finding better ways to make them more desirable. The challenge has been accepted!
Work on hamstring flexibility- One of the things I struggle with in my yoga practice is my hamstring flexibility. Back when I was a kid, my flexibility was pretty spot on. But now that I sit at a desk 5 days a week for 8+ hours a day, my hamstrings have tightened up. Despite weekly yoga practice I am not seeing the improvements I would like to see. This means committing to more hamstring stretches daily instead of just one or twice a week.
Continue gaining weight/muscle- This goal should surprise no one. It’s my goal every year!
Train & Run 5K– If my parents can run a 5K, I should easily be able to as well! The last time I “ran” a 5K I felt like death afterwards. My goal this year is to train and run at least one 5k. I’d love to do the Star Wars 10K but baby steps!
