2017 so far has been a big year of change for me. We started by moving away from Florida to our new home state of South Carolina. I also started a new job in radio that I absolutely love! This year has been the most transitional year of my life but one I am already so happy about.
In January I set personal goals for this year that I wanted to achieve by the end of 2017. Since we are halfway through this year I thought I would do a little check up post to see how my goals were going.
Travel more. So far I’ve been doing really well at this! In February we went to Wilmington, NC for the day. You can read about that in this post here. In May we headed down to Charleston for the day which you can read about here. More travel plans for this year include Raleigh, NC, Columbia, SC and potentially New York.
Read a book each month. This goal is also going really well! I am currently in the middle of The Magnolia Story by Chip and Joanna Gaines of Fixer Upper fame. I’ll be reviewing that book later this month. Here’s what I’ve read this year so far:
- Hidden Figures by Margot Lee Shetterly
- Scrappy Little Nobody by Anna Kendrick
- Talking As Fast As I Can by Lauren Graham
- Sick In The Head by Judd Apatow
- From Cradle to Stage by Virginia Hanlon Grohl
Serve my new community. In March I volunteered with our radio station for the Backpack Buddies organization here in Myrtle Beach. We hosted a golf tournament to raise money for the organization.
Say “yes” more. This goes along with my year of change quite well! I’ve been trying to say “yes” to more experiences. From voicing over spots at work to doing a handstand workshop for yoga I’ve been all about the yes!
Continue to be open-minded. This is a work in progress constantly! But I feel like I’m doing a good job at this so far!
Get to know Myrtle Beach better. We’ve definitely done a lot of this since we moved here! Our favorite thing to do here is find new places to eat. Since Myrtle Beach is a vacation destination there are a lot of unique places to eat.
How are you doing on your personal goals this year?
