TGIF! How excited are you guys that football season is starting tomorrow?! I know I am. In the south we take football very seriously. It’s a plan-ahead, fill your weekends with games and get the best tailgate spot kind of season. This year I won’t be attending any games. Sadly living so far away from my home team (Go Gators) has some disadvantages.
Today I thought I would share 5 of my favorite tailgating food items. Eating prior to game time during your tailgate is so important especially if you plan to make a day out of it!
The Ever-So-Popular Burgers & Dogs
This is a go-to favorite of any tailgate. It’s easy to bring a portable grill and all the fixings for burgers and dogs. It’s by far the most commonly eaten item at any tailgate!
The Southern Favorite: BBQ
Who doesn’t love pulled pork?! BBQ is something southerners all love. I prefer pulled chicken but am certainly not going to turn down pork.
The Fried-Everything Route
Fried food is about as southern as sweet tea! Fried chicken is a tailgate favorite here in the south. If you happen to be lucky enough to live by a Publix Supermarkets (Shout out to my former Club Pub Friends!) then you know first hand how delicious their fried chicken is. The best part, you usually don’t have to cook it.
Various Types of Sliders
Thanks to Pinterest, there are so many different types of sliders you can make for tailgates. For the Tennessee bowl game I was *cough* dragged *cough* to I made ham and cheese sliders the morning of the game. They were perfect to munch on while we tailgated.
The Crowd Favorite Super Sub
Everyone loves a super sub! Apparently you can get them ranging in size from 3ft to 9ft! If you’ve got a crowd to feet at your tailgate they are sure going to love the super sub.
