Downtown Raleigh is the Holy Grail for restaurants. I was really excited to check it out on the Saturday night we were there. We intended on going to one restaurant but the line was clear out the door and around the corner! Instead we decided to hit up Whiskey Kitchen in Raleigh’s Nash Square.
For starters, this place has a cool vibe. As you walk up you can see the outdoor seating to the restaurant. Tables with umbrellas scattered around the patio space lead up to the indoor space. A garage door opens up to the restaurant and bar.
I knew this place would be awesome from the moment we walked in. Their menu was full of amazing choices which made my decision for dinner that much harder!
What did we drink?
Whiskey Kitchen has an extensive bar menu which includes whiskeys (duh!), Bourbons and multiple craft brews including one of my favorites, Kentucky Bourbon Ale.
We all ordered various cocktails and beers to celebrate a family filled weekend. Living a few states from family always makes time together really special.
What did we eat?
It took me far too long to decide what to order. Luckily Judd’s family was with us so everyone ordered something different and we were able to share. I decided to order the Vegan Baguette. Sticking with my “non-dairy” theme that weekend, this entrée had everything I wanted: grilled squash, sprouts, heirloom tomatoes, pickles, tobacco onions and avocado.
The baguette was perfectly toasted and crisp and the sandwich’s flavors came together flawlessly. I devoured it to say the least!
Judd ordered the Hot Ham and Cheese sandwich. It had ham, cheese and honey mustard on a toasted baguette with a side of pork jus. It had a hint of spice to it which Judd loved!
Judd’s aunt and uncle ordered a few things. One was the fired pickles. I love fried pickles and these were perfect! They were lightly breaded with a hint of spice which added to the flavors nicely.
Judd’s uncle ordered the Chef’s Board for the table. It was composed of artisanal cheese, cured meats, pickles and a toasted baguette. Just look how gorgeous this is!
Whiskey Kitchen is the perfect place to meet up with friends or family for a drink and some grub while you enjoy the ambiance. I highly recommend it if you find yourself in Downtown Raleigh. You can see their menu here.
