I would like to begin this post with a Happy Mother’s Day to all of my friends, family and followers who are moms. I am only a dog mom so I don’t know what it’s like to raise a child but I know I wasn’t always the best kid! Being a mom is the toughest job in the world. Well being a parent is the toughest job in the world! But moms are special. I have two women in my life who I am lucky to call mom: my own mother and Judd’s mother.
My mom has always been a role model to me. From an early age, I recognized that she worked very hard for our family. She makes no excuses for anything. I am convinced she is also Super Woman. My mom watched her own mother go through a divorce and become an unemployed single mother of two. My mom knew she wanted to put herself in a better situation. She told me from an early age, “Work hard for yourself even when you get married. Things happen. You don’t want to be in a bad situation if it ever ended.” My mother proved that she can do anything: work 40 hours a week taking care of patients at the hospital, come home to cook us dinner and do laundry. I admire her hard work and use it as a motivator in my own life and career. My mother is very strong. She saw her mom get sick quickly when I was 8. When my grandmother passed away, my mom kept the strength going. As hard as that time was for all of us, she made it through a stronger person. I knew from an early age that I wanted to be as strong, independent and loving a woman as my mother.
I feel very lucky because when I married Judd I got another strong woman in my life. Joanne has become my second mom. I met her before my third date with Judd and I knew that if she liked me, this was going to go somewhere good! Judd and his mom have a very close relationship. Their family has been through a lot together and her strength and courage to raise to boys practically on her own is incredible. Joanne has similar qualities to my own mother: strong, independent and loving. I look up to her strength and courage daily.
One day when that time comes, I hope to be like my two amazing moms. It’s not easy raising kids and keeping a career and marriage healthy. But I know if I ever needed the advice, my mothers know best!
