Day 16 of my yoga challenge is here and I am doing a wide-legged forward fold or Prasarita Padottanasana. This is a posture I used to do when I was still taking dance classes. Start in Mountain pose and step out into a 5-pointed star with your arms out to the sides. You can put your hands on your hips and hinge to the ground then release your hands to the mat. Pull yourself gently with your hands to feel a good stretch in the back of your legs and hips.
I love a good hip opener like wide-legged forward fold. This is a great posture to add to your Warrior sequences. I also like to do Goddess arms or “Touchdown” arms to stretch out the shoulders a bit in this post. It’s also nice to clasp your hands behind your back and stretch them overhead in this pose.
Let’s see your wide-legged forward folds! Show us what you got.
