It’s day 17 of my yoga challenge and today I am doing Staff pose or Dandasana. This posture is a great way to begin or end your practice. Start in a gentle seated position with your legs extended out in front of you. Place your hands by your side or in your lap. For an extra stretch, lift your arms up in the air then gently fold over your legs. Use a strap if you can’t reach your toes. Always remember that yoga is about progress and attempting posture not nailing every single pose right out the gate.
It takes time to get flexibility in your hamstrings for this stretch. I find this posture somewhat difficult because of my tight hamstrings but it’s a work in progress. If I am having a stressful day I like to sit in Staff pose, close my eyes and try to meditate. My mind tends to race a lot so any meditation I can get even if it’s for 5 seconds is gold!
