Hip, hip hooray! We’ve made it a week into our yoga challenge. Today for my 7th day I am doing a standing forward fold pose or Uttanasana. This is a posture I used to do in dance so naturally I can place my hands on he ground. I incorporate stranding forward fold into my sun salutation sequences. Begin in a standing position, take a deep breath in and raise your arms above you. On the exhale, gently fold over your legs placing your hands on the ground or on blocks. Keep a slight bend in your knees as we don’t want to lock them out.
This is a great posture to relax in. Shake your head yes and no and roll out your shoulders. Grab your elbows and swing back and forth releasing any tension in your neck. If your body needs it put a dramatic bend in your knees. Sometimes my hamstrings are tighter dependent upon how my body is that day. I find that a deep bend in my knees feels good in this stretch sometimes.
